Wading ashore onto Gold Beach from the Landing Craft. Note the weather and sky and then compare to photographs of 1944. This is the enduring memory I will have having followed in the footsteps of the chaps who did it back then. The old guys are on the beach waiting for us ... a friendlier reception than occured in 1944.
